Years of
facial expressions involving the forehead leave permanent, and
often deep skin wrinkle lines. Awake or sleeping, happy or sad,
the forehead plays an integral part in our facial structure.
The modern forehead lift procedure addresses the underlying tissues
and muscles as well as the skin. By removing the wrinkles
and furrows in the forehead, the lift procedure erases years
of "worry lines" from your face
The lift
procedure has evolved considerably since first described by our
pioneering cosmetic surgeons. The classical coronal lift with
the dreaded mid cranial scar and the frequent hair loss along
the incision line is seldom performed today. Improvement in sub
dermal approach and the accessibility of sophisticated endoscopic
instruments has made this procedure simple and effective and the
incision scars minimal.
PROCEDURE:
The sub dermal, endoscopic forehead lift is generally performed
through three or four, one centimeter long incisions, on the
scalp. The endoscope or probe is introduced and advanced, creating
a free scalp and forehead flap that is then pushed upward and
backward and then fixed in place with a simple headband.
A drain is kept in place and the scalp incisions closed with
single or double sutures. The drain is replaced in 24 hr. and
the head/band/dressing is maintained for a few days. Sutures
are removed in one week.
